We’ve often had children AND parents say that these brownies taste nicer than regular brownies!! Plus, they’re so much quicker and easier to make! Admittedly, this recipe was originally from AllRecipes, but I’ve changed a few elements in it. Be creative and add extras to make your brownies extra special – try marshmallows, chocolate chips or dried fruit – just add a handful!
Ingredients
- 250g Plain Flour + 1 Tsp Baking Powder/ Self-Raising Flour
- 350g Light Brown Sugar
- 60g Cocoa/Cacao Powder
- 250ml Water
- 250ml Vegetable Oil
- 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180ᵒC/170ᵒC Fan and line a 20x20cm square cake tin (or similar) with greaseproof paper.
- In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder (if using), sugar and cocoa powder. Measure the water, vegetable oil and vanilla in a jug and then pour into the dry mix. Use a whisk to mix until smooth. Pour into your lined cake tin. If using any additional ingredients (as mentioned above) stir them in here.
- Bake in the middle of your preheated oven for 30 minutes, placing a baking tray on the shelf above your brownies to prevent the top from going too dark. Turn the oven off after the 30 minutes and leave the brownies in there for a further 20 minutes. Remove the brownies from the oven and allow to cool for at least 20 minutes before lifting out of the tray and cutting into squares.
