Pasta Bake

I LOVE pasta bake, but it is also the perfect way to turn any leftovers in your fridge into something really tasty! Pack it full of vegetables and top it with cheese for that golden crispy topping… Yum!!

Ingredients

  • 75g Pasta
  • 20g Butter
  • 20g Flour
  • 100ml Milk
  • 20g Cheese, grated
  • Salt and Pepper

Directions

  1. Bring a small pan of water to the boil. Add the pasta and cook for 8-10 minutes until soft.
  2. Prepare your chosen fillings.
  3. Drain your pasta and put into a foil dish with your prepared vegetables.
  4. Now, melt the butter in the same pan over a low heat.
  5. Add the flour and stir for 1 minute.
  6. Remove the pan from the heat.
  7. Pour a small amount of the milk into the pan and stir thoroughly.
  8. Continue adding the milk a small amount at a time.
  9. Once all of the milk has been added, return the pan to the heat.
  10. Bring the sauce to the boil and stir continuously.
  11. Lower the heat and allow the sauce to simmer for 2 minutes. Heat the oven grill to a medium-high setting.
  12. Pour the sauce into the foil dish with the pasta and vegetables.
  13. Add the grated cheese on top of the pasta.
  14. Place your pasta dish onto an oven tray and put under the grill for a few minutes until the cheese melts and the top becomes golden brown.

Alternatively, make a tomato sauce to replace the white sauce:

Heat a little oil in a saucepan and add one finely chopped onion. Cook for a few minutes and add one crushed clove of garlic. Add two tins chopped tomatoes, dried oregano and basil. Bring to the boil to reduce and stir constantly.
