Omelettes are such an easy breakfast to make and they are quick but they’re SO much better when they’re cooked slowly! My patience sometimes (often) lacks when I’m hungry but my taste buds definitely appreciate it when I take my time to make my food better! You can be so creative with an omelette, adding either what you want or what you have – ask your children to add in what they enjoy eating and they might even ask for omelettes more often!
Ingredients
Serves 1-2
- 2 Eggs
- 10g Butter/ Margarine/ Dairy Free Spread
- Salt and Pepper
- Handful of ingredients (of your choice) – cheese, ham, mushrooms, spring onion, peppers, tomatoes, etc
- Bread to toast for serving, optional
Directions
- Prepare your chosen ingredients by cutting (all above ingredients can be cut with a cutlery knife) or tearing into small pieces.
- Crack your eggs into a small mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper and stir with a fork. Spinkle in your cheese now, if using.
- Add the butter to a medium sized non-stick saucepan and place over a low heat.
- Pour your egg into the pan once the butter has melted and spread all around. Evenly sprinkle over your chosen ingredients.
- Cook over a low-medium heat until the egg looks just cooked on the top without flipping – your omelette should be lightly golden brown on the bottom. Once the bottom is golden brown and the top looks just cooked, flip one third of the omelette into the middle third and then flip the other third again over the middle.
- Lift the omelette out of the pan and serve either with or without a slice of toast… yum!
